Triangle Pose

Triangle Tips:
  • Make sure you take a big enough step (generally 4-5 feet).
  • When you bend your knee, the knee should be above the ankle (if knee is over toes, step is too small; if knee is not yet over ankle, step is too big).
  • Make sure your heels are in line with each other, with the bending leg foot exactly to the right (or left).
  • When you are sitting, push your hips a little forward, your bending knee a little backward, your arms and upper body a little backward, with chest open.
  • Do not lean over -- just move the arms, with bottom arm in front of the bending knee and top arm stretching to the sky.
  • After moving the arms, try to sit down more and stretch the arms apart more in order to eventually touch the middle finger in between big and second toes.
  • Bring your straight leg's hip a little forward and down.
  • Press down through the outside edge of your straight leg's foot.
  • Use your core strength to lift the torso away from the bending thigh as you are stretching your arms apart.
